Why do we do a coat drive with our IMS band students?

We continue to develop our IMS student leadership model as a way to support our students who continue to demonstrate the willingness and aptitude of peer leadership.

 

We also continue to stress the value of gratitude to our students for our school and island community because of the immense support for Arts education.  And the value of giving back.

 

Combining these two goals, we are launching the second annual IMS Coat Drive.  Our student leadership team is in place and is now asking for the donation of new or gently used winter coats.  If you have some, please drop them in the IMS Band room or get them to an IMS Band student.  Our IMS Coat Drive will culminate on January 29th, 2020 at our IMS Concert where we will celebrate our students and their work on this drive.

 

We are partnering with Youth Care - an organization that supports and provides opportunities for homeless teenagers

Kudos go out to the IMS Band student for leading the drive and all of YOU in the community for your generous donations.  Over 300 coats + other items were donated to YouthCare, https://youthcare.org/, helping homeless kids in our area.
