Wow! What a wonderful community event, with videos, concerts, and friendly chatter. Topping off the evening was the phenomenal "All In" documentary!

Thank you to all of our donors, winners, bakers, speakers, "All In" movie makers, description writers, photographers, emcees, band student deliverers, BSA package packagers, band student performers, band directors, and our awesome extended band community!

We are almost to $50,000! There is still time to donate using the donate link up above.

The MISD Band program is thrilled to welcome to our Zoom classes in the next two weeks some extraordinary musicians. These professional band members will share with our Mercer Island students their personal stories, their music, their instruments, and the excitement of being included in one of the premiere wind bands in the world.

We are so thankful to our Mercer Island Schools Band Boosters, Mercer Island HS PTSA, Mercer Island Schools Foundation and our island community who continue to support and provide these deeply rich educational experiences for our students.

These musicians are members of the "The President’s Own" United States Marine Band. Known as one of the premier wind bands in the world, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s mission is to perform for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, the Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Today, “The President’s Own” is celebrated for its role at the White House and its dynamic public performances, which total more than 500 annually.

These amazing musicians will clinic with our own Mercer Island Band students in selected classes.

We are excited to have your child enroll in the beginning instrument program at Mercer Island. We are doing things a little differently for 2020, so please read through the following two documents:

Ensemble classes: Tuesday, October 6th and Thursday, October 8th from 8:15am-9am.

Based on your instrument choice, we will meet in general ensemble groups next week. A general band and a general orchestra class will meet on these days. After next week, we will further divide our student groups into instrument-specific classes.
