IMS Concert Attire

Your student will be provided a maroon IMS band polo. They will need to wear black dress pants with black dress socks or a dressy black skirt with leggings, black dress shoes, or black flats. No athletic wear, no logos visible. Think classy!

MIHS Concert Black

For all concerts, students are required to wear “Concert Black.” This is our concert band uniform. Please click the link for a detailed description of the attire. All students are responsible for obtaining their concert black. A proper uniform is a required, graded part of the performance. If this is not possible due to finances, please email a band director.

MARCHING BAND UNIFORM

Uniform distribution takes place during Marching Band Camp in August, when students try on their assigned uniforms and exchange pieces for proper fit. Adult volunteers are needed to assist with this process.

Most uniform pieces are stored in the band hall. Students are responsible for keeping their shoes (“Vipers”), gloves, and select personal items at home. Students should also provide black socks, a black t-shirt to wear underneath the uniform, and appropriate pants or shorts.

A shako refers to the marching band hat. Plumes are attached to shakos and distributed just before halftime performances by adult volunteers.

Vipers and Gloves

We purchase our Marching Band gloves and Marching Band shoes for every Freshman as they enter our program. There is no budget to purchase these each year for everyone.

If you are a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior and cannot find your Marching Band gloves or Vipers (or have outgrown them), here are links to vendors to purchase new ones:

Marching Band gloves: https://stanbury.com/products/hyperformance-full-finger
Marching Band shoes/Vipers: https://stanbury.com/products/viper-marching-shoe

Please allow plenty of time for those items to arrive before our first Marching Band Game.

If you need scholarship support for these items, please connect with Jane Fredricksen at jane.fredricksen@mercerislandschools.org
