December 29th
MIHS Bandfest performance will be streamed live at about 11:00AM on Dec 30 (Sunday) on the Pasadena Star News website or on its Facebook page. Then the band's joint performance with BEG will follow. Recordings of the live broadcasts will be available in both places after they end.

December 28th Rehearsal, time with Banda Escolar de Guayanilla, and Universal Studios
What. A. Day!!! There are times, as you are living an experience, that you think, ‘this is going to be one of my favorite memories.” Today was a day that many of us will unpack and remember with the happiest of feelings.
We shared a rehearsal space today (thank you Rowland High School for hosting!). But it was so much more than that. Our two bands, Mercer Island High School and Banda Escolar de Guayanilla, have shared a social media connection and a band leadership connection but this was the first time our two entire bands were able to spend some time together. We rehearsed, shared our prepared performances, took photos, played ‘duck,duck, goose’, and just were able to spend time together.
It was wonderful.
Thank you, as always, to Banda Escolar de Guayanilla for being the BEST partner in this Tournament of Roses experience.

December 27, 2018 Travel Day
We started our day (very early) at Seatac where we traveled in 5 large groups to Los Angeles. After a visit to the L.A. Farmer’s Market and the Santa Monica Pier, we arrived at our hotel. Dinner and truck/trailer unload started our evening. We ended our night with some team building together in our giant banquet room.

December 26, 2018 Trailer Launch
And they are off! Safe travels to Band dads, Scott Ritchie and Steve Majewski, over the next two days as they drive our rig south. Early morning today!
December 20, 2018 Uniform Packing and Truck/Trailer Load In
It took a massive team of parents and student volunteers but our sweet band is now prepped and loaded to head to California. Special thank yous to Tammy Heydon and Ivy Suzuki-Jaecks for managing the ten thousand details necessary to move our band.
December 22/23 Weekend Rehearsal
Great weekend of our final rehearsal. We started at the MIHS stadium field, then traveled to Boeing Everett to use one of their giant parking lots to practice our big turn. The students were the BEST! Great attitudes as they marched and marched and marched some more.

December 11, 2018 Mercer Island City Council Proclamation
Our very own city honored our MIHS Band with a Proclamation making January 1, 2019, ‘Mercer Island High School Band Day’. Our student leadership accepted the proclamation at a recent City Council meeting.
